Vape Coil Guides

How do Vape Coils Work?

An integral part of any vaping device, vape coils consist of two sections: the atomizer and a cotton wick. The atomizer acts as a heating element which can be made out of a single metal, including kanthal, stainless steel, nichrome, nickel or titanium. When both of these materials merge together, the cotton wick is able to feed your e-liquid from your tank to the atomizer and heat it up into tasty vapor.

Which Vape Coil do I Need?

There are a number of vape coils you can choose from, each varying in different structures to provide their own unique benefits that best align with your own vaping preferences. These include: Ceramic coils, Mesh coils, and Temperature Control coils.

What are Ceramic Vape Coils?

Ceramic coils tend to last longer than regular coils, and offer several benefits, including a reduced risk of spitback, improved e-liquid flavour, and quicker heating at lower wattages.

What are Mesh Vape Coils?

Mesh coils are able to heat up e-liquid faster as well as boost e-liquid flavour and vapor production. As mesh coils can also prevent hot spots, they’re also known to last longer than standard coils.

What are Temperature Control Vape Coils?

These coils are found in advanced kits with Temperature Control mode, which enables you to adjust the maximum temperature your coils will reach to allow your device to alternate between the correct wattage output as you vape.

What is Vape Coil Resistance and Ohms?

You can also choose vape coils with different resistance levels, which is measured in Ohms.

For coil resistances less than 1.0 Ohm, this is referred to as a sub ohm or direct to lung (DTL) coil, while vaping above 1.0 Ohm is known as a mouth to lung (MTL) coil.

What are MTL coils and sub ohm / DTL coils?

MTL coils are high resistance and popular among beginners as they produce less vapour, provide enhanced e-liquid flavour and last longer, whereas low resistance sub ohm or DTL coils are favoured among advanced vapers for their larger cloud production.

What are Rebuildable Vape Coils?

Advanced vapers often choose to build their own coils to enjoy flexible vaping experiences, such as increasing cloud production or intensifying e-liquid flavours to their own desired level. When building your own coil, a solid understanding of Ohm’s law is crucial for safety.

How Long do Vape Coils Last?

How long your vape coil lasts will depend on a number of factors associated with your own personal vaping preferences. On average, a vape coil should last for up to two weeks, however heavy vapers or those who prefer inhaling sweeter e-liquids may find that their coil needs changing more frequently. When you begin to notice a drop in your e-liquid flavour, this means it’s time to replace your coil.
