About Cadbury
Founded in Birmingham in 1824 by John Cadbury, the brand introduced dairy milk chocolate to Britain and has been at the centre of British confectionery ever since. The Flake was introduced in 1920, the Crunchie in 1929 and the Twirl in 1987. All three remain top-sellers more than 35 years after the youngest of them launched. Cadbury chocolate uses a higher milk content than most continental alternatives, giving it the distinctively creamy, slightly softer flavour that British chocolate fans recognise immediately.

Cadbury chocolate: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a Cadbury Twirl and a Cadbury Flake?
Both the Twirl and the Flake use the same distinctive rippled and layered chocolate inside. The difference is the outer shell. The Flake has no coating. It is entirely the flaky chocolate, which makes it delicate and prone to crumbling. The Twirl has the same flaky interior but is wrapped in a smooth layer of Cadbury milk chocolate, making it less messy to eat and giving it a slightly firmer structure. If you love the Flake but find it too crumbly, the Twirl is the practical alternative.
What is inside a Cadbury Crunchie?
The Cadbury Crunchie has a centre of honeycomb toffee, also known as cinder toffee or hokey pokey, which is made by aerating a sugar and syrup mixture to create a light, bubbly, crunchy texture. This honeycomb centre is coated in Cadbury milk chocolate. The contrast between the hard, airy crunch of the honeycomb and the smooth chocolate coating is what makes the Crunchie distinctive from all other Cadbury bars.
