Quick questions about CBD

Before we get into some more niche questions we’ve been asked about CBD, let’s pin down some simpler ones. The first questions people ask about CBD always centre on where it comes from, and whether it’s safe. Fortunately, we’ve got accurate, well-researched information to put all your worries to rest.

Where does cannabidiol come from?

CBD is a naturally derived compound harvested from the hemp plant, which is part of the cannabis family. Unlike cannabis plants used for recreational purposes, the hemp used for CBD has very low levels of THC. THC is the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis, meaning that CBD won’t get you high. You even produce chemicals directly similar to CBD in your body!

Is CBD safe?

All tests that have been performed on CBD state that CBD is safe, including a report by the World Health Organisation which stated that it had “a good safety profile”. CBD is legal in the UK, so long as the THC levels are negligible. All products stocked at E-liquids.com have 0% THC, as proven by third party laboratory testing.

Frequently asked questions about CBD

Now that we’ve established that CBD is legal, safe and natural, let’s get into some trickier questions—don’t worry, we can handle them! Before you buy CBD you should always feel comfortable with every aspect of how CBD works. At E-liquids.com we’ve got the answers you need, no messing around.

Can I use CBD for my medical condition?

This is by far the most common question we get after people ask what CBD is. The reason answers are so lacking on this matter is that the regulation surrounding CBD in the UK doesn’t allow sellers or distributors to make any health claims until further studies have been undertaken. That’s why we avoid making any medical claims on CBD—you shouldn’t trust a UK seller that does.

In the U.S. where cannabidiol has a longer history there are FDA-approved medications based on CBD, but in the UK we’re not in the same position. For the time being, all we can emphasise is that CBD is a safe, natural product that mirrors compounds your body already produces itself. Then, it’s up to you to make your own CBD discoveries.

Can I take CBD with my medication?

Another common concern is for people taking CBD alongside a pre-existing medication, or even several different medications. Our primary piece of advice is simple: speak to your GP first. There are so many different forms of medication, and the only person who knows best in this situation is a healthcare professional.

We can confirm that CBD is generally well tolerated, but there are instances which are worthy of consideration. CBD inhibits the production of the P450 enzyme in the liver, which means that other medications can take longer to degrade. If that sounds worrying, in this sense it has the same impact as grapefruit—if your medication mentions not eating grapefruit, it’s a good idea to avoid CBD too!

Can I take CBD abroad?

This is an incredibly common question, but the answer isn’t a simple yes and no. CBD is legal in many countries the world over, but there are often different regulations in terms of THC levels and container size. Fortunately, in the UK we have one of the lowest tolerances for THC %, and all the products we stock are 0% THC, so on that front you should always be safe.

Before flying with your CBD, we’d advise checking the legality of CBD in your destination country, and then printing off a CBD lab report from your supplier (we’ve linked to Vitality CBD). That way you can prove the THC level if questioned. It’s also worth noting that if you have any layover stops, you should 100% check the legality of CBD there as well. Fly safe!
